Other things you might be able to do …

  • Have a mechanic take a look at it, or check with the service center that serviced the car you're interested in;
  • Reading error codes (not only via OBD2, but also on a make-by-make basis);
  • Check out the seller (company), see who has bought from them and how satisfied those customers are;
  • Don't (!) fall for the “just for you, just now, and anyway, they're taking it away soon” line!
